BIG Opportunity Vs. Lightning

4/2/10

So it's been a while. The Olympics were great except for Cindy Crosby and the Rangers have been as Jekyll and Hyde as ever since then. But, with a win tonight against Tampa - a team that's all but mathematically eliminated, though dangerous - the Rangers can move to within two points of the eigth and final playoff spot.

A win against the Lightning would also qualify the Rangers to be considered "hot." They have won three of their last four and have finally begun to show some sort of desperation to get into the playoffs, especially in the second period against the Isles.

The Montreal and Philly game is going to be one to keep an eye on for the Blueshirts and their fans alike. Both of those teams have four more points than the Rangers with 82 so the loser of that game (assuming there is no OT) would be still tied with Boston two ahead of New York.

I'm rooting for Montreal. Why? Because quite frankly I don't like the Flyers and the Rangers close out the season with a home-and-home against Philly. If the Rangers are within two points of the Flyers at that time it means they have their destiny in their hands. Win and in!

Here's to hoping the Rangers can win a game they should tonight, and push their way into the playoffs.

I don't know that I like the Rangers' chances to beat Washington in the first round, but we should worry about that when/if the time comes.
