The King Deserves Better

Two games. 73 saves. One goal against. Zero wins.

For those of you who haven't already figured it out, those are Henrik Lundqvist's numbers after the last two games against New Jersey and Ottawa. Is he mad? Probably. Frustrated? Definitely. And I don't think anybody can blame him. He has brought his best effort every game this year but the guys in front of him just don't.

I wanted more than anything to see Henrik chew the guys out during Tortorella's timeout when nobody seemed to be saying anything. I'm sure he wants to be a leader by example, but somebody other than the coach needs to get this team going when they lay eggs at home and I'm positive that he carries enough clout to get them to listen.

If that's not the path he wants to go, I guess I don't blame him, but I can't remember seeing any goalie look so frustrated after allowing one goal. Lundqvist really looked like he wanted to hit either hit someone, cry, or both. In that situation, I probably would have.

I think usually the effort from the guys in front of Hank is there. But this team isn't scoring and on nights when the other team is working harder, Lundqvist is being left out to dry.

The guy deserves better, and it's time he comes out and says so.
